Selena Sing with me Book presented at a local school


CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The kids of ‘Dr. ML Garza-Gonzalez Charter School had a special visitor on Friday with many stories to share.

Originally from Corpus Christi, Diana Lopez, author of the novel adaptation of the Disney Pixar movie Coco, visited the school to launch her new picture book, ‘Sing with me: the story of Selena Quintanilla.’

School leaders said this year’s mission focused on reading and having a Corpus Christi author helped make the day a memorable one for the students.

“It’s something kids can relate to and they can see themselves doing something because someone else has done it from Corpus,” said Rosemarie Rojas, director of Dr. ML. Garza-Gonzalez Charter School. they can do it, I can do it myself.

The children were able to sing songs by Selena while learning more about her and how the book was composed.
