This Friday is October 1, which means it’s the first Friday in downtown Manteo and includes an exciting book signing you won’t want to miss! Elizabeth City resident and retired school librarian, Blair Jackson will be at Downtown Books from 5 to 7 p.m. signing copies of her brand new children’s book Captain Al and Big Blue.
Now you might be asking … Captain Al? like in Captain Al Foreman? YES! Blair is Al’s sister and wrote this wonderful book as a tribute to his legendary brother, his charter boat Country Girl and the legacy of deep sea fishing on the Outer Banks in which he played a big part. Follow the beautiful watercolor illustrations by artist Mary Edwards as a little boy joins his grandfather aboard his boat for a day spent fishing in the Gulf Stream.
Filled with facts, fun, and a few surprises – we just LOVE Captain Al and Big Blue and predict this will be one of our best-selling holiday titles because every parent and grandparent will want to put this book under. fir.
